Cathi Dorr

Cathi began her love with music in the summer of sixth grade, and like many musicians, she chose to play the flute and join school band. She grew up in East Moline, IL, just a mile from where she currently lives. She has always striven to excel in music; through her love of performing and teaching the flute, she has enjoyed sharing her talent with audiences and private students for 40 years. Cathi credits many teachers for her success, especially Walter Haedrich, flutist, who she studied with for 10 years. The joy of playing music not only gives her personal pride, but it is also her passion to help people and students with their musical dreams and endeavors.

Cathi has been a Store Manager with West Music in both the former Davenport and current Moline locations, and now represents West Music as an Educational Representative on the road. She adds, "Simply selling musical products isn't what we do. We're not in an "off the shelf" retail business. We recognize that people innately need a way to be involved in music, to find a means of expressing themselves in their own way. Providing our customers with good advice, the opportunity to learn, and support by listening and helping is what we are really about. Getting people to participate is the key, and we respect their journey. It's not the other way around! Our success comes from a culture that is passionate about caring. It is our pleasure at West Music to work together towards this goal."

Cathi and her husband Mark enjoy searching the country for fine antiques. Everyone in the Dorr household is a musician. Mark and her two stepsons, Rob and Dan, are all guitarists. Mark and Cathi enjoy evenings of spinning records on vintage stereo systems, sharing time with friends, and entertaining. Cathi holds no recipe hostage, and her Mom's legacy lives on in her cooking and baking! She is learning to play the piano, and continues to perform on the flute recreationally.
