Mike White

Mike White Mike is from Flossmoor, IL, and currently is a double bassist and teacher based in Coralville, IA. He is a Doctor of Musical Arts candidate at the University of Iowa (UI), where he served as a teaching assistant for the double bass studio and completed his master’s degree as a student of Volkan Orhon. Mike holds a Bachelor of Music degree from Illinois State University (ISU). While an undergraduate student, he performed with the UI Symphony Orchestra, Chamber Orchestra, UI Opera, and the Center for New Music.
Mike has been a member of the Waterloo-Cedar Falls Symphony since 2011, and performs regularly with professional ensembles including Orchestra Iowa, Peoria Symphony, Dubuque Symphony, and the Illinois Symphony. Mike joined the faculty at Cornell College in 2013, where he instructs the bass studio and assists with the college’s orchestra and jazz ensembles. Mike also works with local students as a private teacher and clinician. In 2016, he joined the faculty of the Upper Midwest String Camp in St. Joseph, MN, where he teaches bass and coaches chamber ensembles.
