One of the things I look forward to during Easter is the chance to color eggs. I’ve found that young children also enjoy talking about the paint involved in the traditional holiday activities. I find that this discussion can easily lead to a fun book called “Ain’t Gonna Paint No More” by Karen Beaumont. I like to pair the book with singing and using an instrument. I’ve used rhythm sticks or rhythm sticks with scarves tied to them. I’ve used just scarves to symbolize the paint. I’ve also used the cabasa to paint on the body parts. Kids really enjoy this fun intervention, which addresses body part identification, color identification, and rhyming words.
